Fall 2004 Results Summary

A record number of participants, 46, took part in the 30th running of the race. Unlike the spring of '04 where there was an even split between 5K and 10K, this time there were 37 10K runners and 9 5K runners. Many of the 5K runners from the spring stepped up to the longer distance on race day which was October 29, 2004.

The fall '04 version of the run down will be remembered as the 'sandbaggiest' of them all. Of the 46 runners, 36 ran times lower than their predicted times, some of them embarrassingly below! For the second time in race history we had a tie (see Fall 1999 for the other time). Jane Nancekivell ran 7 seconds under her predicted time of 54 minutes and Jason Leduc was 7 seconds over his predicted time of 43:15.

Once again the fastest time of the day in the 10K race went to Jim Wendland in a time of 38:26 (26 seconds above his predicted time). Dan Burton was the only other 10K runner under 40 minutes at 39:10

In the 5 K, Mike Olmstead turned in a 19:14 for the fastest time, 44 seconds above his predicted time.

During the post race lunch, Peter Mostert announced the launch of a new trophy dedicated to the 5KM race to be unveiled in the spring of 2005.
