Spring 1992 Results Summary

Spring 1992 - This was the last race held where you didn't need to qualify for the trophy by running one prior race. The winner of this race was first time runner Rick Kean. Therefore it is known as the Rick Kean rule. (this rule was later dropped when we changed to the method of picking your own time then trying to be closest to it)

John Duralia had a long history with this race and was notable because of how much his times improved as he got into better and better shape (from times near 46 minutes to closer to 35 minutes). At the time of this race, Dan Burton & John were running about the same pace and had a great rivalry going. On the second loop, Dan was trailing John and both were hurting to keep the pace. At that moment, Paul Boundy (who had scratched from the race) drove up behind Dan to discuss race strategy and ask how he was feeling. It was unclear if Paul had some money riding on the outcome but his encouragement did spur Dan on to pass John and win this meeting.
